A Big Thank You to All!

OVER 10,000 CONVERGED FOR DISCUSSION AND KNOWLEDGE EXCHANGE ON PENANG GREEN AND SMART CITY IN ALIGNMENT WITH PENANG2030 VISION!

GEORGE TOWN, Oct. 2019—The Penang International Green Conference & Exhibition 2019 (PGIGCE’19) has come to an end after months of hard work and preparation. There is no need for bitter-sweetness or 'post-event hangover.' For this is the beginning of many more exciting purposeful changes.

We want to save our only home in alignment with Penang2030 Vision's 'a family-focused green and smart state that inspires the nation’. We need people from all levels and all walks of life to be a part of creating a sustainable living. However, significant changes require the involvement of policymakers, big corporations where a single action impacts the lives of many and technologically advanced companies with the knowledge to share.

The participation of 10942 people over three days of the PGIGCE’19 took place at Gurney Paragon from 27 to 29 September was graced with the presence of YAB Chow Kon Yeow, Chief Minister of Penang State cum Chairman for Penang Green Council, YB Yeo Bee Yin, Minister of Minister of Energy, Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change, YB Phee Boon Poh, Penang State Exco for Environment, Welfare and Caring Society cum Vice Chairman for Penang Green Council, Ar. Yew Tung Seang, Mayor of City Council of Penang Island (MBPP), Baylon Tham Wai Leong, Organising Chairman of PGIGCE 2019 cum Board of

Director for Penang Green Council, and Ar. Chan Seoung Aun, MGBC President.

The Green Conference that was held on the second day of PGIGCE’19 was the main highlight. Along with keynote speaker, YB Yeo Bee Yin, are building owners, developers, green building professionals, interior designers, architects, and engineers all converge to share knowledge, exchange expertise, and network.

To take the word from our beloved Chief Minister,

'What we have achieved so far in our green journey towards liveability and sustainability in Penang are not just results on paper or a far-flung utopia waiting in the horizon.
We have concrete results not only to pride ourselves in but to spur us to work harder because they serve as a reminder that more can be done if we set our hearts towards long-term goals.'

This is the 8th annual large conference the Penang Green Council has been hosting with a theme every year to direct our focus on. 'Penang Smart and Green City’ is about making the city sustainable, prosperous, and future-inclusive by effectively integrating physical, digital, and human systems in the built environment. Consequently, we want to create a better life for our loved ones, partners, children and ourselves.

All 20 exhibitors, loaded activities, and discussion topics revolved around the actions, knowledge, and technology to educate, inspire, and exchange on creating sustainable living and environment. Therefore, the broad age range of attendees from children to adult, all gets to enjoy and learn during the event.
