Walk the talk, be a Penang Green Citizen
Updated: Mar 31, 2020
Taking care of our mother earth has been the mission and foundation of our lives. We are a part of the nature. But what do we really need to do as a global citizen to ensure the sustainability of our beautiful planet?

Penang state started a pledging program called Penang Green Citizen since year 2010 to encourage the people to adopt a series of green practices in their daily life as a green citizen. 10 key initiatives were introduced as the basic living habits to create awareness and to enhance behavioural changes of the people. It can be as simple as saving water or do not litter.
10 Green Practices for Green Citizens:
1. Save water.
2. Conserve energy.
3. Reduce single use plastics.
4. Bring your own food container/ water bottle
5. Practise 5R- Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Repair, and Recycle to extend the lifespan of Pulau Burung Landfill.
6. Use public transport or carpool to reduce carbon footprint.
7. Support anti-smoking initiative.
8. Stop littering.
9. Stop open burning.
10. Create a caring society.
“Every individual matters. Every individual has a role to play. Every individual makes a difference. Only if we understand, will we care. Only if we care, will we help. Only if we help shall all be saved.” Jane Goodall once said.
Being environmental friendly is never a mission impossible, we just need to give it a try and practise it day by day to make it a daily habit. By walking the talk, we can actually influence the people around us to pay more attention into global issues such as climate change and plastic pollution.
The Perks of being a Green Citizen TODAY!!
This programme was launched 9 years ago in year 2011 and we have more than 20,000 pledged citizens now! Thus, Penang Green Council would like totake this opportunity to reward all Penang Green Citizens who has been practising the green initiatives above. We are proud to introduce to you our new collaboration with an international beauty and wellness product brand -L’occitane will be kick start in April. Penang Green Citizens who are actively practising recycling can redeem their reward when they recycle with L’occitane’s recycling program called Big Little Things Initiative.
On top of that, we are proud to also collaborate with a new recycling app – Riiicycle to encourage Penangites in practising recycling. Penang Green Citizens will enjoy extra privileges when they register themselves and recycle using the apps system. Variety of rewards will be available when you accumulate points throughout the recycling process.
Be rewarded by us fellow Penang Green Citizens when you show efforts in practising the 10 key initiatives as you pledged. Stay tuned and we hope taking care of our planet is not a task, but a choice. Pledge now to become a Green Citizen: https://greencitizen.penang.gov.my/

The idea of reading news and commentary more carefully gives me a reason to slow down and consider the details. A striking headline is easier to evaluate when its main claim is separated from the supporting detail. For Tvplovdiv, I would use news and media literacy as a starting point for a closer discussion of the subject. The smaller details are what I would want to return to, especially when an explanation feels too broad. What would you check before passing a story on to someone else?
Considering developing practical web and software skills, I would want to understand a few concrete details before deciding what matters most. A small working project can reveal questions that a tutorial alone leaves unanswered. It is the kind of question I would keep in mind when thinking about Sw Js and web development learning. I would be interested in an example that shows how the idea works in an ordinary situation. What would you build first to connect a new concept with something you can test?
Thinking about following curiosity through everyday information, I find the smaller practical questions more interesting than a quick conclusion. A clear question can turn a casual interest into something easier to explore. That practical perspective helps me frame 966944 learning ideas as a theme for 966944. That is the part I would keep thinking about after moving on to something else. How do you decide which detail deserves a closer look before moving on?
I can see why learning cooperation through secondary school projects would invite discussion, since different people will bring different experiences to the same question. Comparing different approaches can help a group see options it would otherwise miss. For me, that is a useful way into the broader subject of secondary school collaboration. I can imagine different answers depending on the situation, so I would want to understand the context before drawing conclusions. How do students decide which approach to try while keeping everyone involved?
The topic of connecting technical ideas with hands-on learning gives me a few things to think about, especially when the discussion moves beyond general advice. Trying a simple task can reveal which parts of an explanation still feel unclear. I would use that point as a starting question when considering technical skills education. I am more curious about the process than a polished result, because the steps in between are usually where questions appear. How would you connect a practical exercise with the reasoning behind each step?
